Indian all-rounder Arundhati Reddy was issued a reprimand and a demerit point after being found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during India’s match against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident occurred during the 20th over of Pakistan’s innings when Reddy dismissed Nida Dar and pointed towards the pavilion. This was Reddy’s first offense within the two-year period specified by the ICC for accruing demerit points. Four demerit points over this period can lead to a match ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ICC stated that Reddy had breached Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his\/her dismissal during an International Match.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reddy accepted the sanction proposed by the Match Referee and did not challenge it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the reprimand, Reddy’s match was a bittersweet one.
