However, his tenure was marked by significant challenges: England drew the 2023 home Ashes series 8-8, suffered a 16-0 defeat in Australia earlier this year, and failed to reach the semi-finals of the 2023 Women&#8217;s T20 World Cup. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his departure statement, Lewis expressed gratitude for his time with the team and a commitment to continue supporting women&#8217;s cricket. &#8220;I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as England Women&#8217;s Head Coach,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Unfortunately, I won&#8217;t be able to finish this incredibly challenging but enjoyable job of developing this young team, whilst winning and growing the women&#8217;s game in this country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He highlighted the team&#8217;s progress, noting an 83% win rate in 2024, and affirmed his dedication to advancing women&#8217;s cricket in future endeavors. &#8220;I have worked tirelessly with this group of young players to develop their skills and understanding of modern-day white ball cricket&#8230;and I am determined to continue to help drive women&#8217;s cricket forward in whatever comes next for me,&#8221; Lewis concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jon Lewis has stepped down from his position as head coach of the England Women&#8217;s cricket team, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced Friday (March 21).
