Joe Root Test

England continued their dominance over Pakistan in the opening Test, setting a new record for the highest Test score by an English team. Led by centuries from Harry Brook and Joe Root, the English batsmen piled on the runs to declare at a mammoth 823/7.

Harry Brook, in particular, stole the show with a brilliant triple century. His innings, which included 317 runs from 322 balls, was the second-fastest triple ton in Test history. Brook’s knock was overshadowed only by Virender Sehwag’s record-breaking innings against South Africa in 2008.

Joe Root, not to be outdone, also scored a double century. His partnership with Brook was worth a staggering 454 runs, the fourth-highest partnership in Test cricket history. The duo’s dominance was only broken when Root was dismissed by Agha Salman.

England’s declaration left Pakistan with a daunting task of chasing down 268 runs to win the Test. The hosts will need a strong performance from their batsmen to avoid a heavy defeat.
