Fatima Sana

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana is set to return home to Karachi following the sudden demise of her father due to a stroke. The news came as a shock to the team and cricket fans alike, as Sana had been leading the team admirably in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Vice-captain Muneeba Ali will take over the leadership reins for Pakistan’s crucial match against Australia on Friday. Given the circumstances, it is unlikely that Sana will be able to return to the team before their final group game against New Zealand on October 14.

Sana, who had taken over the captaincy from Nida Dar before the tournament, had been making a significant impact. She had led Pakistan to a victory over Sri Lanka in their opening match and had been a consistent performer with both bat and ball. Her absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team, especially considering their need to win both their remaining group games to stay in contention for the semifinals.
