Shimron Hetmyer has made a comeback to the West Indies ODI squad for the upcoming home series against England. The explosive batsman, who last played an ODI against England in December 2023, will replace Alick Athanaze in the 15-member squad.
Hetmyer’s inclusion comes after a disappointing tour of Sri Lanka, where the West Indies lost the ODI series 2-1. Despite a promising start with a T20I victory, the team struggled in both formats. The final ODI, however, saw a glimmer of hope as Evin Lewis, making his return after a three-year hiatus, smashed a century to secure a consolation win.
Youngster Jewel Andrew, who made his debut in the final ODI, has retained his place in the squad. The series against England offers a chance for the West Indies to regain momentum and build towards the 2027 ICC Men’s World Cup.

Head Coach Daren Sammy expressed excitement about the upcoming series, stating, “Playing against England always provides a new challenge and reignites a rivalry that the players and the people of the Caribbean are eager for. Somehow, we West Indies always find a way to raise our game when we face England.”
The series kicks off on October 31 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The two teams will also clash in a five-match T20I series following the ODIs.
