Colombo, Sri Lanka: The Indian cricket team, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, has arrived in the Sri Lankan capital to kickstart preparations for the upcoming ODI series. 1 The squad, primarily comprising players selected exclusively for the 50-over format, checked into the ITC Ratnadipa hotel on Sunday evening.
Key players like Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and Harshit Rana are part of the contingent that has jetted in early to acclimatize to the conditions. With the ODI series commencing on August 2, the team is keen to hit the ground running.
To ensure a smooth transition and effective net sessions, the Indian team management has entrusted assistant coach Abhishek Nayar with overseeing the training. Nayar, who was part of the T20I coaching staff, has arrived in Colombo on Monday morning to take charge of the practice sessions.
The remaining members of the Indian squad, currently engaged in the T20I series, will join Rohit and his team after the conclusion of the third and final T20I match on July 30.
All three ODIs are scheduled to be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. With India already clinching the T20I series 2-0, the focus now shifts to the ODI format as the Men in Blue look to continue their dominance.
