Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana’s scintillating century propelled India to a dominant 6-wicket victory over New Zealand in the series decider at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This win sealed the series 2-1 for the hosts.

India’s chase of 232 was largely effortless, despite a shaky start from Shafali Verma. Mandhana, however, took charge, gradually accelerating her innings. A crucial 76-run partnership with Yastika Bhatia laid the foundation for the victory.

Harmanpreet Kaur joined Mandhana and the duo finished the job with aplomb. Mandhana, in particular, was in sublime form, reaching her third ODI century of the year and surpassing Mithali Raj’s record for most ODI centuries by an Indian woman.

India’s bowlers also contributed to the win, with Deepti Sharma and Priya Mishra picking up crucial wickets. New Zealand, despite a valiant effort from Brooke Halliday, couldn’t quite keep up.

With this victory, India have further cemented their position as one of the top teams in women’s cricket.
