Towhid Hridoy

Towhid Hridoy has candidly admitted that Bangladesh’s recent 3-0 whitewash against India in the T20I series exposed significant shortcomings in their team’s performance across all departments. Despite fielding a more experienced squad compared to their young Indian counterparts, the Tigers were comprehensively outclassed in terms of skill and execution.

Following their third consecutive defeat, Hridoy emphasized the team’s struggles in both batting and bowling. “We lacked consistency in all aspects,” he stated. “One day, the batting would be good, but the bowling wouldn’t, and vice versa.”

While acknowledging the unfamiliar nature of the Indian pitches, Hridoy refrained from using this as an excuse. He emphasized the need for Bangladesh to adapt to such conditions to improve their performance in future series. “We don’t usually play on wickets like this,” he said. “But with more experience, we’ll get better.”

Hridoy pointed out that the failure of Bangladesh’s top-order batsmen to consistently contribute runs was a major factor in their losses. “When the top order performs, the team can score big,” he explained. “If the top four can get substantial runs, the total becomes 180.”

Despite the disappointing series, Hridoy expressed confidence in Bangladesh’s ability to improve. He attributed the team’s struggles to their lack of experience playing on flat pitches, a contrast to the conditions they typically encounter in Bangladesh. “We mostly play in Mirpur,” he said. “In other places, the wicket varies each day. If we keep playing on good wickets, we will improve day by day.”

Hridoy further highlighted the importance of skill development and learning from India’s example. “It’s not just about the wickets; we also need to improve our skills,” he concluded. “India is a strong team, and this is their home ground. They’re good in all aspects and ahead in terms of skill too.”

Overall, Towhid Hridoy’s assessment provides a clear picture of Bangladesh’s current challenges and the areas where they need to focus on improving to compete at the highest level in international cricket.
